Dr. Bill, as he is called around PCT, got his doctorate in Theatre at Northwestern University. He taught for more years than he wishes to remember and retired last year from Morehead State University where he was Professor of Theatre. He is a director and designer and enjoys scene painting. Some of his favorite productions he has directed are: The Tempest, School for Scandal, Medea, Kismet, The Secret Garden, Charlie’s Aunt, Aida, Man of La Mancha, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Equus, Camino Real, A Little Night Music, The Full Monty, The Music Man, Into The Woods, West Side Story, Oliver, Promises Promises, Oliver, Brigadoon, 42nd Street, Anything Goes, Victor/Victoria, La Cage Aux Folles, Madwoman of Chaillot, Berkley Square, Peter Pan, The Balcony, Carousal. and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Would you believe there are many, many more? Just how old is this guy? But wait! He has also designed sets! Some of the favorite productions he has designed are Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Antigone, Another Part of the Forest, Cinderella, Camelot, Summer and Smoke, Orpheus Descending, Trojan Women, Pippin, As You Like It, La Ronde, Valpone, Romeo and Juliet, Amadeus, St. Joan, The Elephant Man, The Ghost Spmata and Three Penny Opera. And that is not all. Do you want the whole list? I thought not! And Dr. Bill also enjoys working at Palm Canyon Theatre because he get to work with his son (J.W. Layne), daughter (Se Layne) and wife (Sylvia), and a whole lot of other talented people. Guess who wrote this thing?
