Matt Lawson
Scene Shop Intern

Matt is thrilled to be returning to the stage after just appearing in Palm Canyon Theatre’s production of Reefer Madness, Shakespeare’s:     R & J & Evita. Matt’s theatrical journey began at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College - Jackson County Campus (MGCCC-JCC for short.) While there, he served as stage manager for the female version of THE ODD COUPLE. He was part of the casts of DRACULA, SEE HOW THEY RUN, DEATHTRAP and the dinner theatre presentations of THE IMAGINARY INVALID and TEN LITTLE INDIANS.  In 1992, Matt left college to begin a five year stint as a slot attendant at The Isle of Capri Casino. Five years of watching people win thousands of dollars and losing it all trying to win hundreds of thousands of dollars began to take its toll.  So he left. In 1997, he attended The University of Montevallo. While there he was cast in PICASSO AT THE LAPINE AGILE and THE GREEKS PART II: THE MURDERS. He also worked backstage on TWELVE DANCING PRINCESSES and MAN OF LA MANCHA. In 2000 Matt left UM but returned in 2004. He directed the Christopher Durang play FOR WHOM THE SOUTHERN BELLE TOLLS for senior directing project and served as an assistant stage manager for THE NORMAL HEART. In 2006, Matt graduated with a BS degree in theatre.
